Red Ribbon Week 10.26-10.30

Did You Know: Children of parents who talk to their teens regularly about drugs are 42% less likely to use drugs than those who don’t, yet only a quarter of teens report having these conversations.

Did You Know: Alcohol and drugs are the leading causes of crimes among youth and the most common factor in teenage suicide.

Did You Know: Teenagers who use alcohol, tobacco and marijuana typically begin using them between the ages of 12 and 14, with many high risk children starting even earlier. Those who begin using before the age of 15 are four times as likely to become dependent.

What can WE do? Help me make this year’s Red Ribbon Week the most impactful yet by stressing the importance of healthy living, goal setting,  and self respect.

Spirit Sticks!!!!
Thanks to our AMAZING PTO we will have Red Ribbon Week Spirt Sticks for all of our students!!! Distribution will depend on when we get them but they are awesome and I am excited to be incorporating them in to our week and giving the students something more substantial and lasting to remind them of their pledge and what they have learned!

Hopefully you are as excited as I am to make this a powerful and meaningful week for our students. Maybe something we offer during Red Ribbon Week 2015 will be what lingers in the back of a student’s mind and is with them when they have to make hard choices in their lives. If you want to incorporate the message in your classroom look for more resources in  the workroom and through email throughout October.

Thank you for your support. This has the opportunity to be a very important week for our students!
